How to prevent the generation of stone white flowers

Baihua is a phenomenon of white powder or sagging on the surface of the stone or the caulking. It often occurs outdoors or in places with abundant water sources, such as flower stands, outdoor steps, and caulking on external walls.

When the stone is installed by the wet method, the calcium hydroxide and other alkaline substances in the back-filled cement mortar are dissolved by a large amount of water and penetrate into the stone surface or fill the joints. The calcium hydroxide and the carbon dioxide in the air Or the SO2 sulfuric acid compound in acid rain reacts to form calcium carbonate or calcium sulfate. When the water evaporates, calcium carbonate or calcium sulfate crystallizes out to form white flowers.

The measures to prevent the formation of Baihua are as follows:

1. The stone should be protected before installation (front, five or six, depending on the project requirements) to prevent the stone from inhaling too much water, prevent water from the front of the stone or groundwater from infiltrating the cement mortar under the stone to avoid The alkaline metal ions of the cement mortar penetrate into the stone, causing Baihua. Stone conservation

2. Choose gap-filling materials suitable for stone and apply it according to the correct construction method. Good quality caulking materials and correct application methods can prevent the occurrence of white flowers in the caulking.

3. When mixing cement mortar, use low water-cement ratio or add water reducer. Reduce excessive water content, can avoid the occurrence of white bloom.

4. Adding a waterproofing agent to the cement mortar can prevent metal ions from being dissociated by a large amount of water and leaking out of the stone surface to form white flowers.

5. Use non-polluting aggregates, such as avoid using sea sand with more calcium, magnesium, and sodium ions, and avoid using groundwater with more minerals as mixing water to reduce the source of metal ions and reduce the probability of white bloom .
